Welcome!


Well, hello there! Welcome to my newest little blog that I like to call the Popcorn Extravaganza!

What is the Popcorn Extravaganza?

Why, it’s a place where I get to sit down, take a load off, and freely talk about my favorite shows, movies, comics, music, podcasts, and basically whatever else comes to mind.

What should I expect?

Expect me to talk about shows like Superman & Lois and Walker and maybe some others. Expect me to reflect on random episodes of Smallville or Supernatural or The X-Files. Expect me to share all my thoughts on films and TV like on Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Stranger Things 4, and next season of The Mandalorian. Maybe I’ll even talk about a new comic book series I started or an album, or a podcast I like (I actually host one with a buddy of mine called No Fate: A Terminator Podcast, definitely check it out if you’re a Terminator fan).

The truth is, I love to talk about the stuff I watch and enjoy. I love to theorize and analyze and have my own opinion.

But I kind of hate Twitter, and Facebook, and anything that is too "social media" like.

Don’t get me wrong, I definitely welcome comments and discussion, but I don’t think Twitter is always the best place for me to talk about why I love Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and why I think it takes the Jurassic franchise in a new and exciting direction (that’s a post waiting to happen...).

All-in-all, I’m just a guy with dreams of being a screenwriter who just moved to Los Angeles and needs an outlet every once-in-a-while to talk about the things I love (and maybe sometimes rant about the things I’m not as fond of).

So, butter your popcorn and settle in your seats, cuz this might be a bumpy ride...

  This Thursday evening, Jared Padalecki returned to The CW after a very brief hiatus (Supernatural recently ended) as the titular role in the new series Walker . Walker serves as a reimagining of the beloved Chuck Norris series Walker, Texas Ranger, and proves to be different from the get-go. While the original series was very much an action-oriented "family values" series, Padalecki’s take features a more broken, disconnected version of Cordell Walker. But that's not bad. By reimagining this series -- I call Walker  a "reimagining" of the original series for modern times as opposed to a reboot because reboot implies "more of the same", whereas a "reimagining" takes the bare-bones concept and alters it to the creator's liking (in this case, that "Cordell Walker is a Texas Ranger who is tough on crime") -- Walker  is in a unique position to chart its own course and create a whole new fanbase in the same vein as series like the ...

SUPERMAN & LOIS - "Pilot" Thoughts and Review

  Potential Spoilers for Superman & Lois may follow... In a world that often feels dark, complicated, and busy, it's easy to become jaded and distracted. Just the other day, a close friend of mine and I were discussing how mankind wasn't meant to be doing so much mental "work". Our bodies, our minds, and our souls are much happier, and rest better, when the physical and mental meet, and when life is simple. COBRA KAI - "Live or Die, Man"

Growing up, one of my all-time favorite movies was The Karate Kid . It just always resonated with me. Not because I was bullied in the same vein that Daniel was (words were my bullies' weapons of choice), and not because I was a karate star (though I did win 1st place in a karate tournament when I was young). In fact, I can't really explain why I loved The Karate Kid  so much, just that I did. Having not grown up watching the sequel films (or the heretical remake), the original was always the story that captivated my heart. Between Daniel's "underdog story" to Mr. Miyagi's mysterious wisdom, there has always been so much to love. So when I heard that they were re-releasing The Karate Kid  into theaters a few years back... Well, I just had to make a trip to the big screen! But then, once the film was over, the first two episodes of Cobra Kai  (before they had premiered on YouTube Red) were shown in the theater. Now, I have to admit, I didn't take it serious...
